Myklebust Verft AS in Gursken, Norway, has signed a new contract with Remøy Management in Fosnavåg, Norway, for the building of a third coast guard vessel.

The three vessels will be the first coastguards using hybrid propulsion system based on gas and diesel as engine fuel. The design, type VS 794 CGV, is developed in close cooperation between the yard and the owner, and is designed by Vik-Sandvik, Fitjar.

The vessels are designed for towing- and rescue operations, oil recovery and fire fighting. The length of the coastguard will be 93 m, breadth 16.6 m and the bollard pull 100 tonnes.

Delivery will take place in March 2009 and the contract value is NOK 285 mill.
