Vaasa
In Vaasa Wärtsilä can be found in different locations: the city centre, Runsor, Vaskiluoto and Suvilahti.
R&D
The R&D centre for Wärtsilä four-stroke engines is situated in the city of Vaasa. The centre is supported by four-stroke technology units in Turku (Finland), Trieste (Italy) and Bermeo (Spain). The product development is supported by a modern engine laboratory and the Waskiluoto Validation Centre, where new technologies are tested. They are both situated in Vaasa.
New Energy Validation Centre
Wärtsilä delivered a fuel cell unit producing electric and heating power to the Vaasa Housing Fair site in 2008. The WFC20 is the first power plant of its kind in the world. The unit is run on methane rich gas, originating from a nearby landfill.
Delivery Centre Vaasa
The Delivery Centre Vaasa (DCV) is responsible for the delivery of the four-stroke engines that Ship Power and Power Plants sell. This includes the machining of key components and the assembly of engines and gensets.
Manufacturing Technology Centre
In 2009 the Manufacturing Technology Center (MTC) was inaugurated in Vaasa. The MTC's concept is to develop and share core manufacturing competences globally within Wärtsilä.
Wärtsilä Shared Service Center
Wärtsilä Shared Service Center (WSSC) is a business-oriented unit which serves Wärtsilä companies worldwide with financial matters e.g. accounts payable, payments and travel expense handling.
Projects & Sales
Ship Power, Power Plants and Services and the sales and project functions associated with them are situated in Runsor, some 9 km outside of Vaasa.

Ship Power
Ship Power (mainly offshore) designs, sells and delivers integrated solutions for e.g. offshore, floating production units and gas tankers.
Services - Wärtsilä Land & Sea Academy
Services in Turku includes sales, product support and Wärtsilä Land & Sea Academy (WLSA). WLSA offers training in operation and maintenance for vessel and power plant operators and Wärtsilä's own personnel. The Academy arranges close to 9,000 training days every year.

Vuosaari workshop
The new workshop, located in Vuosaari Harbour in Eastern Helsinki, covers an area of 1150 square metres and is equipped with 5 and 12.5 tonne overhead cranes, advanced machining equipment, fuel injection system component overhaul tools and testing devices, and the latest technology service tools. Services offered include full workshop operations for engines and propulsion systems, as well as the servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment onboard vessels of all types. The new workshop has also its own transport vehicles to secure fast response capability.
Operations in Helsinki began in the beginning of August 2011.

The Wärtsilä Innovation Node is a new kind of research and development centre and a lively meeting place – a touch point for innovation – in the new Aalto University’s Open Innovation House in Espoo, Otaniemi.
