Best-in-class fuel economy & outstanding power-to-weight as well as power-to-space ratios
The technologically advanced Wärtsilä 46F can be run on either heavy fuel oil (HFO), marine diesel oil (MDO), or on light diesel when being operated within strict coastal or port emissions areas. This fuel switching can take place smoothly and without power interruption across all engine loads.
This flexibility enables the operator to select the fuel according to price, availability, and the need to meet local emissions regulations.
The Wärtsilä 46F engine is fully compliant with the IMO Tier II exhaust emissions regulations set out in Annex VI of the MARPOL 73/78 convention.

Wärtsilä engines are delivered with the UNIC embedded engine management system.
The UNIC system is designed to ensure extended lifetime for large marine diesel and gas engines operating in the toughest of conditions. Special attention has been paid to temperature- and vibration endurance throughout the design, while the highest priority has been given to operational reliability.
Key features of the UNIC system include the engine safety system, local monitoring, speed control with loadsharing, fuel injection- and timing control, knock detection, alarm signal acquisition, start/stop sequencing, load reduction request, system diagnostics, and a fieldbus interface as applicable for each engine configuration.
Thanks to the electronic control, the engine can be adapted to different operating conditions. Furthermore, the pre-tested configuration allows the engine or generating set to be made ready for operation with a minimum of commissioning and installation work.

The 2D and 3D models and drawings downloaded (”Marine Solutions Drawings”) are for general guidance purposes only and should not be used for actual projects.
